Have you ever thought „Wow, we used to know so much stuff?“. For instance, which plants and mushrooms in a forest were edible. Or how a computer works? Or how some parents forget to teach you essential things like how insurance or taxes work?
I used to think, within the science community, this was not the case. Boy was I wrong. Nobody looking at published papers before 2000 anymore. PhDs and Postdocs leaving a lab, without teaching anybody the skills they spent years acquiring.
As you can probably tell, this will be a rant. Its just not finished yet.
